George Singleton Lowe lived on Southport Road, Lydiate, and was working as a farm labourer when the war broke out. He was the son of Thomas and Isabella and had two brothers. He served as a lance corporal in the Rifle Brigade. He is commemorated at Tyne Cot Memorial, Belgium.
